Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

I just want to share with you a Halloween video that I filmed with my sister, where we showed you how to make one of our favourite edible treats for Halloween. It's quick and easy to make with minimal mess, perfect for kids of all ages!

Spending Ban

Spending Ban Button

Georgina from Makeup Pixi3 posted today about doing a spending ban so that she can save up for a DSLR that she has been wanting. She said she would love it if others would join her in having a spending ban whether they have a target in mind or just want to be on a ban for a set amount of time.

I’ve decided to join her and I’m going to save up £400 for a holiday, my lovely friend Hannah is in Bologna and I would love to be able to go out and visit her before she comes back home. I’d like to be able to go out and see her in March/April so hopefully I can have saved up enough by then otherwise I’ll try and go on to save a little extra so that I can to see my sister in Australia when she moves out there next year. My laptop also seems to be on its last legs yet again, but I only bought it a few months ago so I’m going to try and return it to store and see if they can fix it for me.

I am obviously going to have some rules for this challenge,
1, I can’t buy any products unless I’ve run out and don’t have something similar.
2, I can buy gifts for other people, which is an essential with Christmas coming up!
3, I can buy myself a beauty advent calendar.
4, I can buy any books required for book club.
5, I can buy an outfit for my Confirmation at the end of November.
6, I am allowed to subscribe to a beauty box or spend the equivalent (£12.95) on beauty products.
7, I can buy products/props which are essential for my YouTube videos.
8, I’ll give you updates as to how i’m getting on, along with anything that I’m lusting after.

I’m hoping that this spending ban will give me the opportunity to play with a lot more of my beauty products that I haven’t touched in ages, and I can rediscover them!

Will you be starting a spending ban any time soon?

Body Positivity | #BodyConfidenceWeek

Being happy with your body isn't something that you can just switch on or off, if only it was that easy! Since I've started blogging I've become much more confident not necessarily in my body itself but in the clothes I wear, some of the clothes I wear now are clothes that I wouldn't have worn 2 years ago, at least not without some amendments. It was only earlier this year that I got my legs out without wearing tights as part of Flash the Flesh, the dress I wore is one that 2 years ago I would have paired with jeans or a pair of leggings, now I'm happy to wear it and bare my legs.

I always find that one of the things you have to remember most when being so brave in pubic is not to take comments to heart, the people that make them don't know you and are probably the kind of people you don't want to know if they are going to make such remarks to strangers! However not taking comments to heart is one of the hardest things, I know I dwell on them and then I begin to believe them, so I'll have days where I'd rather hide in jeans and a t-shirt. I luckily have some of the best friends who won't let me spend too much time dwelling on comments that strangers make, and since blogging I feel I've developed a thicker skin but it's still as hurtful when someone I know makes a comment. I don't think it ever stops hurting when people you know make comments, and it's especially hard when it's your closest friends or family. The comments I get tend to be about the clothes I'm wearing rather than about me personally, which some people might take as a positive.

I have days where the first outfit I put on looks great, and I feel great, but I also have days where I can be constantly swapping and changing outfits in the hope of feeling great, and it always seems to be those days when someone makes a comment.

BeauCoo Logo

I've since found a great place to find inspiration from, and that's BeauCoo* a great website which allows people like me and you to upload our outfits. The aspect I love most is that you can enter your measurements, which are kept hidden but you can then choose to search for outfits that people with similar measurements to you are wearing. I love this feature because it allows me to see outfits that I love but would never have worn myself because I didn't think it would suit me. I think we all fall into the trap of wearing the clothes that we are used to and we might not branch out as far as we could do but now I have somewhere to go and look to see if a style I like may look good on me.

I mainly use BeauCoo for looking at what other people are wearing, however if you create an account you can upload your own outfits to share with other people what you are wearing, and what looks great on you. I think I'm going to start sharing my outfits more because someone else may see them and find the inspiration to try on something a little different even if it's only in the shop changing rooms! When you spot an outfit you like on BeauCoo you can choose to like it or mark it as something you want, when you then visit your profile page it shows you the outfits you've liked, and the outfits you want.

Outfits I like and wantBeauCoo

Setting up an account is really easy, you can download the app for Android and Iphone, which means taking and uploading outfits on the go couldn't be easier. You can also sign up for an account on the website, which you can't currently upload outfits from but it will hopefully be introduced in the future and once it is I'm sure I'll backdate a lot of my blog outfits! When setting up my account I didn't encounter any difficulty it was really straight forward only took a few minutes, the difficult part is getting your measurements, so I'd advise making note of those beforehand.  Once you have got your account set up and want to start looking at outfits you can choose to view by fit match which will allow you to see outfits from people with similar measurements to you, or you can turn fit match off to see outfits from people of all sizes. You can also choose to view outfits from friends where you can see the outfits from the people you are following, or you can choose to view everyone which allows you to see outfits from everyone.

If you decide you do want to add an outfit, again it is really simple and straight forward. You choose the photo you wish to upload, you then choose whether it’s a top, bottoms, or dress, before adding the brand and store. You can also choose to add a description about the item you are adding. I’ve added a photo of my tea dress, and mentioned in the description that it runs small, so that people know it may be better for them to size up or order both sizes to try.

BeauCoo have also introduce the #BoPo which if you visit the feed on twitter will allow you to see tweets about body positivity, and some of those tweets may link you to articles or blog posts which are about body positivity.

You can find me on BeauCoo here.

Will you be looking to BeauCoo for outfit inspiration?

Sleek Review

I was only introduced to Sleek in the summer, I had seen the brand and products floating about on some of the blogs I read but I’d never tried them for myself, or even swatched them in store! During the summer I took the plunge and picked up a trio of their blushers and Face Form.

You may remember me sharing that i’d bought the blusher with you, it was in the haul of products I bought from my day in Leeds in July, however it is now time to bring you my thoughts on it! I’ve had plenty of use out of the blusher and Face Form over the past couple of months.

I’ll start with the blusher, I picked up Blush By 3 in the shade Lace which has more peach/orange toned blushers which were ideal to use throughout the summer.

I like the packaging, it is eye catching and yet still quite simple.

The compact of the blusher is very simple in black plastic with the Sleek logo. When you turn the packaging over you will also find a list of ingredients along with the name of the palette, and individual names of the blushers.

When you open up the compact you will find 3 blushers inside, along with a large mirror. I find the blushers great for building up colour, however the one on the right Crochet needs a light hand as it is very pigmented. The blusher in the middle Guipure has a light shimmer running through it, and is a lovely rose pink colour which is perfect for the summer. Chantilly on the left is a peach blusher and is the one I have loved most, I like to build up the colour on my cheeks and then I will add Guipure over the top to add a little shimmer.

Next we are moving onto Face Form in shade Fair which is Sleeks contour kit and blusher palette. I bought this because I wanted to give contouring a go, but also because I wanted the Sleek Rose Gold blusher and combining the two seemed ideal.

Again the packaging is still simple but eye catching, your eyes are drawn to it on the shelf but it isn’t garish packaging which will make you think twice about purchasing.

Again the packaging of the compact is the same as that for the blusher and has the Sleek logo, on the back of this palette it lists the ingredients for all three different products.

Face Form contains a bronzer, highlighter, and blusher. The bronzer is very pale in colour which makes it ideal for those of us with fair skin, you can keep it light or build it up for a stronger colour. I find the highlighter to be very easy to use, I only use a very small amount across the tops of my cheeks and I can see a lovely light reflecting shimmer. We then move onto the Rose Gold blusher, I prefer this to the Guipure blusher in the Blush By  palette, simply because it is a darker pink. I find that the shimmer running through them both is very similar, and just helps to give a glowing complexion rather than a cheek that looks like a disco ball!

Both the Blush By 3 and Face Form palettes are £9.99, I bought both of mine from Superdrug but they are also available on the Sleek website.

Have you tried either of these products from Sleek, which other products would you recommend?

Ps. Take a look to see who won my MUA giveaway.

hair today, gone tomorrow

As some of you may know I went and got my hair cut on Friday.

2013-10-04 11.27.08I left my house looking like this!

2013-10-04 14.58.24
and came back looking like this!

I finally plucked up the courage to go and get my hair chopped off, my long hair had been irritating me for a while. I was struggle to find way of styling it, and a lot of it was just dead and full of split ends because I died the underneath pink last summer.

I am really loving my new hair so far, it’s so easy to style and I feel fabulous with it!

Would you ever go for such a drastic change in hair style?
