MUA Review and Giveaway

I thought I’d share with you a few pieces from my summer MUA haul, and you could win them all!

I’ll start up with the FASHIONISTA Style Brows palette, I picked this up because I was getting a little bored with my Benefit Browzings palette, and i’d heard great things about this one. One thing I love about this palette is that there are 3 different shades of powder which means that it’s pretty much suitable for everyone, and there’s also a clear wax for setting your brows. I just use the darkest shade, but I could easily share it with my mum and sister when we’re away because they would use the other 2 shades. The little pair of tweezers and the brush that come in the palette are handy for when you’re on the go as there’s no need to take up extra bringing full sized. I haven’t used the tweezers in the set but I can say that the brush isn’t too bad and would be ideal for touch ups.

Next up I have the FASHIONISTA Double Take lipstick in the shade Raspberry which is a lovely hot pink that looks great layered up with Out There plumping lipgloss in Pin Up Pink. I’ve worn them both layered together and separately, they’re very similar in colour which make them great for pairing together. I’m really impressed with the lipstick as it does have great staying power, it’s not one that you need to think about touching up all the time, though it does transfer quite easily. Pin Up Pink isn’t the only lipgloss I bought, I also picked up Sienna which is a coral colour, and although it is seen as a summer colour I think it can be worn throughout autumn.

Style It Saturday

It’s that time of the month again, this month I was asked to choose the theme for the challenge and I chose Voluptuous Vixen. In my mind it’s when you wear an outfit that’s a little vampy and dramatic but makes you feel fabulous!

Style It Saturday is a celebration of individuality which allows bloggers involved to showcase their own unique style. Each month there is a theme which we interpret to suit our styles and shapes, in order to share ideas and put our own imaginations to the test!

On with the photos!

Blouse – Sorrento Clothing
Leggings – Pink Clove
Belt – Primark
Shoes – New Look (old)

I spotted this blouse when we were at Plus North and fell in love, you can see a picture of me with it over on Emily’s blog. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it, and that it would look perfect with a pair of wet look leggings.

I ordered the blouse in a 22 because I wanted to ensure that I wouldn’t encounter any gaping across the boobs, and I don’t when it’s buttoned up. For this outfit I chose to leave it unbuttoned so that by bra could be seen a little, which I wouldn’t do when out and about. I find the blouse to be true to size, it fits my boobs perfectly but is loose everywhere else, which is what I would expect because I sized up for my boobs. The blouse is chiffon which makes it ideal to be worn throughout the year, un summer it can be worn on it’s own and during winter you can layer it up.

On my nails I’m wearing OPI – Vampsterdam, and Barry M Gelly – Blood Orange.

I would also recommend the leggings from Pink Clove, they’re a bargain at £10 and are true to size. I bought a size 20 but I do wish I’d sized up just so that they’d be a little higher waisted but it’s not a big problem and just me being fussy.

I didn’t mention it earlier but the blouse features this gorgeous floral lace panel in the back,

What would your go to outfit be for today’s theme?

OOTD: Tea Dance

A few weeks ago my mum and me arranged a fund raising tea dance for church, we are hoping to raise enough to fit a toilet into church as there isn’t currently one.

We spent a lot of time organising the event, and luckily we managed to pull it off! We learnt how to do a couple of dances, YouTube became our best friend for that, and although some of the dances weren’t quite traditional but we are not dancers and don’t have a clue, so we were very happy with the fact we managed to remember three dances and teach them.

One of our tables set up!

Dress – Lindy Bop
Cardigan – Sainsbury’s
Shoes – H&M

I dressed up in my Lindy Bop dress, which is from their Audrey collection and is beautiful! I bought a size 22 which is a little snug, I wouldn’t be able to wear it all day, and I need to pull the waistband up under my bust to make it comfortable to wear. The dress did also come with a belt, but there was no way it was going to fit round me. I wear a size 20 and sized up mainly because of my boobs, and I think ideally I would have sized up again but they only go up to a 22. I really do wish that they made their dresses in bigger sizes because they are gorgeous and affordable, this one was £29.99.

I teamed it with my coral cardigan and some coral pumps that I picked up in H&M.

Scent like you

Source: We <3 It

I don’t know about you but I find buying perfume very difficult. I really hate having to go to the perfume counters and test endless perfumes, because I find that most perfumes just smell of alcohol even after they have settled.

I have one perfume which I love and go back to time after time, and it’s Paul Smith ‘Rose’. The first time I smelt it the scent just caught my attention, I didn’t have any issues with smelling just the alcohol, however I have decided that it’s about time I found myself another scent so that I can mix them up a little.

Perfume is something that’s very personal to shop for, you need to find something that is you. I’m most often drawn to floral scents, that are often associated with being something that an old lady may wear, but I would assume that’s because I often go for ones which smell strongly of rose.

One perfume I’ve been trying at the moment is Marc Jacobs ‘Daisy’, it is one that my mum owns and she allows me to pinch it every now and again. I have found that I prefer the solid perfume, I’m just able to enjoy the scent from the beginning, but even with the spray once it has settled I do enjoy it.

Unfortunately it won’t be the next perfume I buy but that’s because I’ve found one I love more, which is Nina Ricci ‘Nina’ both myself and my mum love it after trying it out in Harvey Nichols* so I think the rush will be on to see who buys it first!

Which perfumes do you love?

Tinkerbell Loves… August

Tinkerbell Loves August

I thought I’d share with you some of the things that i’ve been loving through August.

Blog: My favourite blog this month has been Polka Spots and Freckle Dots run by the lovely Louise, her Serendipity Sunday posts are amazing, she finds some many beautiful images, and fab articles!

YouTube: I’ve been a little bit addicted to watching Fleur De Force this last month, I love her videos and have been going back through some of her older videos too!

Beauty Product: I bought this halfway through August when I had an impromptu shopping trip with my sister and that is the Illamasqua Paranormal Palette. I have used it for pretty much every makeup look I have done since I bought it.

Fashion: I love my dress that I bought from Lindy Bop, it’s a little squeeze to get in it, but it is gorgeous, you’ll get to see it on Friday!

Shop: Wilkinsons has been my favourite shop this month, I picked up quite a few bits and pieces for my room and it’s all been really affordable.

TV/Film: I’ve been loving Supernatural, I’m currently on series 3 and i’m trying to hold off finishing it because I don’t have series 4 yet.

Book: I have been reading Department 19 by Will Hill, I discovered the book through Jim Chapman, I was watching one of his favourite videos and he mentioned it and it sounded pretty great! It’s a book about vampires but more of the Dracula kind of vampires rather than Twilight vampires.

Food: My favourite food has to be the Mrs Crimbles cheese crackers, I tend to take them to work for my lunch because they’re just easy to grab in a morning when i’m half asleep.

What have you been loving through August?

Makeup Look: Paranormal

Today, I’ve decided to show you a makeup look that I created with my Illamasqua Paranormal palette. If you’ve seen my YouTube video where I showed you the products I bought from Illamasqua then you’ll know that I did say I would do a look using it on my blog, and here it is!

I started off with a freshly washed and moisturised face, before applying my primer and foundation. I also spent some time applying concealer and filling in my eyebrows.

Porefessional Primer – Benefit
Stay-Matte Oil-Free Foundation – Clinique
Erase Paste Concealer – Benefit
Fashionista Eyebrow Kit - MUA

On my eyelid I just put a neutral colour all over. I started by applying an eyeshadow base, and then I applied a neutral eyeshadow from one of my palettes. I also just popped on a little bit of eyeliner.

Eyeshadow Base – Art Deco
Palette – MUA
Gel eyeliner – Maybelline

I then used a black pencil eyeliner on my waterline, before adding colour underneath the eye. I used purple all the way underneath and then added pink from the middle out towards the corner of my eye.

The reason I have added colour beneath my eye rather than on the lid is because I have very small eyes and so you never get to see they eyelid which means any colour I apply there is almost wasted because you can’t see it.

As you can see, my eyelid is hidden from view but putting my eyeshadow underneath means that my efforts can still be seen!

Medium Eyeliner Pencil – Illamasqua
Paranormal Palette – Illamsqua

I then decided to do an ombre lip using purple and pink again, I started by applying the darker colour around the edge of my lips using a brush. I actually used my Real Techniques Fine Eyeliner brush but it works really well as a lip brush, especially when you’re just lining your lips. I then used another lip brush to apply the pink to the centre of my lips.

Sacred Hour Lipstick – Illamasqua
Fashionist Lipstick - MUA

Look complete!

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my makeup look, I know that I enjoyed doing it for you!
