Lush Leeds Spa 4th Birthday – Haul

This is the last of my 3 posts about the day I spent in Leeds to celebrate the 4th Birthday of the Lush Spa. Today I thought I would share with you the products I bought while I was in Leeds along with the items in the goody bag I received from Lush Leeds Spa.

I’ll start off with the contents of my goody bag. I got 5 products all of which are used within the different treatments in the spa. Our goody bag came in one of the knot wraps, which has since been put to good use as a headscarf!

Lush Leeds Spa 4th Birthday - Evening

I’ll just warn you now that there will be lots of photos within this post, I got a little snap happy throughout the evening, which is always fun!

So as you all know I spent part of my day with Lush, but I was also invited to come back in the evening for their Hollywood Glamour themed birthday party.

We were greeted with a drink and later on in the evening we had cake!

During the evening we were talked through all of the treatments available at the spa, on the shop floor we were able to look at the products used, and talked through the treatment, while down in the spa we could watch two of the treatments being delivered.

Validation Facial

This is one of the two treatments I received a taster of during the day, your facial is tailored to your needs, and you are able to have an input into which products are used depending on how you want you and your skin to feel.

I would happily pay to have the complete facial treatment, though I’ll have to get saving the pennies!

The Spell

The Spell is a foot massage, where they will give your feet a lovely little pamper, they use a foot mask, and a foot scrub. If you find that you have ticklish feet there’s no need to worry as your therapist will use a firmer hand on your feet to push through that layer of ticklishness!

I have a couple of the products use within The Spell, and so I’m tempted to ask my mum to give me a little reflexology treatment with them until I can afford to go and experience The Spell.

Synaesthesia

Synaesthesia is the first treatment that was available at Lush Leeds Spa, to begin the treatment you are asked to choose a word from the wall as you enter the spa. Your massage will be tailored around the word that you choose, in the store the word chosen was peace which meant that the peace massage bar would be used within the treatment, and after the treatment you would be given a cup of peace tea.

The Comforter

The Comforter is a glamorous but fun treatment which uses a hot chocolate scrub, the room will be full of feminine scents such as rose, and the room is filled with magical stars and bubbles. After your treatment you will be given a rose candyfloss drink and a piece of chocolate tiffin.

I think this will be the first treatment that I try in the spa! It appeals to my girlie nature, and I can’t resist anything pink or chocolate, and this combines them both!

DSCN4257

After we were told about the treatments and products on the shop floor we were then invited into the spa to see the last two treatments in action. I didn’t take any photos of the treatments that we saw.

The Lush Sound Bath

The first treatment we were taken in to see was the Lush Sound Bath, a treatment that I had tasted earlier in the day. I find this treatment to be very different to the others because of the use of the tuning forks, I was told that the use of these forks is equivalent to one hour of meditation, which is something I never do. The treatment involves a facial, and the use of ear candles which we saw in use and they don’t burn down to being anywhere near your ear, so there’s nothing to worry about!

You will begin your treatment with a chocolate mushroom, and a quick drink, after your treatment you will be given a freshly made lemon drink.

The Good Hour

The second treatment we saw was The Good Hour which is a deep tissue massage, which will ensure that your muscles feel much looser and relaxed once the massage is completed. You should come out of the treatment feeling that your body isn’t as tense, many people have muscle aches whether from bad posture or sports training, and this massage will help to release the tensions and give you chance to fully relax.

Once your massage is over you will be invited to sit at the table in the kitchen and enjoy a cup of tea with a biscuit.

After our trip down to the spa we went back up into the store and were invited to have a look around, talk to the staff and have Emotional Brilliance readings. I decided to have a second reading to see if it would differ from the one I had had earlier in the day, it did differ slightly however it was very similar.

We also had some group photos taken, which I’m sure will make their way to some blogs as they were taken on bloggers cameras. We also signed a giant birthday card for Lush and so if you were in Leeds over the weekend you may have seen it in store.

I just want to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lush and thank you for inviting me along, I had a lovely time!

Lush Leeds Spa 4th Birthday – Day

A couple of months ago I was invited to Lush Leeds Spa to help them celebrate their 4th birthday, and after only really discovering Lush at the Sheffield Meet Up I jumped at the chance to learn more about Lush and to discover the spa. We were invited to spend some time with them during the day to experience tasters of some of their spa treatments, and they were then hosting a birthday party in the evening.

The event took place on Thursday 25th July, I had booked myself in for the 1.30 time slot so that I could also spend some time shopping during the afternoon. However, on the morning I had a slight fear that I wasn’t going to make it on time, I was struggling to find myself a train station which had parking spaces! I ended up driving to Saltaire, where I only just got a parking space. I did think that I may have to drive all the way to Leeds, and without a sat nav it would not have been fun. I did manage to make to on time though.

I actually arrived at Lush early where I was greeted by Flo and told that they were still setting up the spa, so while I was waiting I was introduced to Zara who introduced to me to Rub Rub Rub and gave my hand and arm a little pamper with it. My skin was left feeling lovely and smooth!

2013-07-25 14.12.55
2013-07-25 14.13.01

I was then introduced to Jo and taken down to the spa, when I walked into the spa it was like nothing I expected, you walk into a country kitchen. I was seated at the table and told about the two taster treatments I was having and the products used, I had a taster of the Validation Facial and the Sound Bath. The treatments were very relaxing and I felt as though I could quite easily nod off! I imagine if I was to have a full treatment then I probably would, I was told that some people do fall asleep, so at least I wouldn’t be the first!

2013-07-25 14.12.46

After my treatments I was taken back out to the kitchen where I was given a lovely candyfloss and rose water drink, and a slice of chocolate tiffin. I was told to take as much time as I needed to come back round to reality before being taken back up to the store.

When I went back up to the store I felt as though I was floating on air, and I was definitely still away with the fairies.

I definitely want to go back for a full treatment, but I don’t know which one I would choose.

Before I set off to the event I knew that I wanted to spend some time in the store discovering more about Lush and the products they have. To begin with Charlotte gave me an emotional brilliance reading where I picked Ambition, Control, and Healthy, I found the reading to be very interesting and true as well.  I talked to Charlotte about how my skincare routine currently involved the Ultrabland Cleanser and Tea Tree Water, but that I was on the hunt for a moisturiser to help my oil skin. I mentioned that I’d tried Vanishing Cream but didn’t find it quite right for me so she suggested that I tried Enzymion, which helps to keep the face matte throughout the day for wearing makeup. I was then introduced to the Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, it is a dry cleanser which needs mixing with water first, Charlotte tested it on my hand and arm, and it’s gently exfoliating, and my skin was left feeling nice and soft. I was also shown the Love Lettuce facemask which again gently exfoliates and smells really nice.

While I was talking to Charlotte I told her that I’d only really used the couple of skincare products from Lush but that I was interested in the hair care products and the bath products that they are well known for. I told Charlotte that my hair is generally quite oily and so anything that would help with that would be great. She told me about the I Love Juicy shampoo which is packed full of fruit juices and smells amazing, it honestly smells good enough to drink! I was also told about the American Cream conditioner, that is thick and nourishing but washes out as though it was a thinner conditioner, that sounds pretty perfect doesn’t it, a conditioner that you don’t need to spend ages washing out. And to round off the hair care I was shown the Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Ease hair treatment, now this doesn’t smell as amazing as the shampoo or conditioner but it is supposed to strengthen hair and has red henna infusion so for people like me not only is it great if you colour your hair, but especially if you colour it red!

I had a look at plenty of the bath products including, Sex Bomb, Twilight, Dreamtime, You’ve Been Mangoed, Mmmelting Marshmallow Moment, Rose Jam, The Comforter, Yuzu and Cacoa. All of the products smelt amazing, and would make bath time a little more special.

I did make some purchases while in Lush but i’ll keep those for another post, which Lush products are your favourites?

A Beauty Tag

The lovely Kaye tagged me in the Beauty Tag over on her blog, and so I decided that I would film it for you, but that I would also write it as a blog post just in case watching videos isn’t your thing.

1. Name a beauty routine you barely do.

I never do a pedicure, I always just pretty much leave my feet to do their own thing, though I probably should give them more love because they do a lot of walking.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?

The answer would be that I’m improving, I use my brushes more often now and so i’ve started washing them fortnightly. I do wipe them down with a makeup wipe every couple of days, but I know it doesn’t really do much for them.

3.How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?

I can last a couple of weeks, I do try to paint my nails weekly but sometimes I’m too busy so i’ll leave them and have fun peeling the when I’m bored.

4.How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish even if you need it. (i.e. top coat, foundation and so on)?

It depends on the product, I ran out of foundation at the beginning of this week and picked a new Rimmel one up on Monday. However I ran out of top coat a couple of months ago and I’ve yet to replace it.

5.What is your worst beauty habit?

It would either be not washing my makeup brushes enough, or not looking after my feet, both very important tasks which need to be done on a regular basis.

6.Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time.

Putting my washing away, I usually end up with a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge pile sat in front of my chest of drawers, and then I’ll end up shoving them all away at once, even though they don’t fit in. I have far too many items of clothing, but I wear them all!

7.When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?

If i’m going out somewhere nice or special then I will take my time getting ready and put aside a few hours, so that I can shower, do my hair, makeup, get dressed, without the need to rush at all. I usually end up being ready early, but that’s handy for making sure that I do have everything I need before I leave.

I usually give myself 45 minutes to get ready in a morning before work, with most of it spent in the bathroom and putting make up on. I tend to leave 10 minutes for doing my hair, getting dressed, making lunch, and running out of the door, I make it every time so I can’t be leaving it too much to the last minute.

8.Can you commit to spending bans?

Nope, I tried one at the beginning of this year and I still spent money every week. I might not have spent as much as I would normally have done but I still spent money so it wasn’t an effective ban.

9. How organised is your makeup and nail polish collections?

I think they’re pretty organised, my nail varnish is all neatly put away in a box so that I can reach in and pick them up to see what colour they are. The makeup I’m using is in my makeup bag, and any i’m not using I put away in a box, simples!

10.What is the longest time you have gone without writing a blog post?

I think it’ll easily be a month or so, sometimes I fall out of love with blogging, or i’m too busy to get the time to type up all they things that i’m doing. I am always around though, even if i’m not posting all that regularly.

I tag Lisa, Kirsty, and Felicity to do the Beauty tag.

A Trip to Howarth

Yesterday I met up with my old friend Hannah for a day out together, we decided that we would take a trip to Howarth because neither of us had been in a while and it’s a lovely quaint town, plus who doesn’t love the home of the Brontes.
When we arrived at Howarth we decided to take a walk down to the bottom of the main street, purely because it’s quite a steep hill and so walking back up would be much easier if we were popping into shops along the way.
DSCN4344
The first shop we stepped foot in was one that was full of knick-knacks and bits of pieces that you want to add to your home but at the same time know that you don’t have much use for it. It was a place where you have to rummage to find the gems!
DSCN4345
It looks so inviting for a rummage!

I spotted ‘The Girl Guide Annual’

I also spotted a picnic hamper which I would have loved to take home!

Cookery household manual, we have one of these in our kitchen!
2013-07-26 11.42.40
Seeing this book made me giggle!
We stopped in a little vintage shop called Oh La La we had great fun looking around and trying things on. I tried on a vintage dress and discovered that my arms were too fat, which is a first for me! I normally have issues getting things on over my boobs and not my arms. I did come away with a vintage headscarf which only cost me £5, I think I went back to it about 3 times while we were in the shop!

They had a beautiful wedding dress on display!
2013-07-26 12.04.56
I love the suitcase and the cups and saucers.
We then decided to stop for lunch at a lovely cafe called The Stirrup, I started my lunch of with a lovely glass of Pimms! Hannah ordered a goats cheese, tomato, rocket, and basil pesto on ciabatta bread which looked lovely! I went for soup of the day which was Leek and Potato, it was delicious, so much so that I spilt it on myself. The chef very kindly brought out a damp cloth for me so that I could clean myself up.
I really enjoyed our lunch and the food was reasonably priced for how scrumptious it was, I know that sometimes you can go to touristy places and you find that it can be quite expensive for food that isn’t too spectacular. I was also impressed that there were a number of different soups to choose from for soup of the day, with an option for a chilled soup.
2013-07-26 12.30.54

We also paid a visit to shop that is loved by us both Rose & Co Apothecary, it is absolutely beautiful inside, and you do feel as though you’ve stepped back in time! They sell many beautiful products, you can buy cake soaps, pick up some Paul and Joe makeup, or even stock up on beautiful knickers!
I must admit that I do fancy a few pairs of their knickers, they are all so beautiful, I especially loved the tutu knickers, not so sure they’ll look so great under a pair of jeans though.

2013-07-26 13.43.38
Don’t forget kinky knickers!
We also took a trip to St Michaels Chuch in Howarth, which is where Patrick Bronte was incumbent. The church is beautiful and there is small Bronte chapel within the church which has a plaque in memory of the family.

After our visit to the church we went to the gift shop of the Bronte Parsonage Museum where I picked up a copy of The Tennant of Wildfell Hall. I can’t wait to give it a read especially as the BBC 1996 adaptation had a small part of it filmed at my Grandmas farm, hopefully i’ll be able to recognise it!
We then went and had ice cream, which is a warm day essential! We took a walk down to the park and sat and chatted for a small while.
2013-07-26 14.22.55-1
Nom nom nom!
It was lovely to spend the day with Hannah, it was ones of those times when as soon as you get together it doesn’t feel as though it’s been years since you last got together.

Have you ever been to the home of the Brontes?

You can find Hannah's blog post of our day here
