Summer Giveaway

Hello lovelies!

Summer has now arrived for most people, even if the sun isn’t too keen on being out, and so I thought I’d have a little giveaway for you all.

Nicola from Always Be Beautiful Jewellery has kindly given an Animal Kingdom bracelet, but everything else has been bought with my own money.

I’m sure you’re all wanting to know what you could possibly win, so lets get on with the show!

2013-06-29 10.30.55

Here is the beautiful bracelet from Always Be Beautiful, Nicola let me choose the charm and I went for a cat, however if the cat isn’t your thing there are many more charms available to buy on the website, from dinosaurs to farm animals too!

I absolutely love Nicola’s jewellery and so i’m very glad to be able to give a piece of away so that someone else can try her beautiful pieces.

2013-06-29 10.35.10

We also have a stunning Cath Kidston key ring and compact mirror.

2013-06-29 10.35.46

I couldn’t resist this cat ring holder from ASOS, the one photographed is my own but yours will come boxed. That face is just so cute, and I find it perfect for in the bathroom, i’m constantly forgetting to take my jewellery off, but now I have a safe place to put it all.

2013-06-29 17.24.09

I think my fellow bloggers will agree that we’re always in need of a new notebook, and I know that plenty of people love stationary so I’ve chosen this beautiful notebook from Paperchase which has an aztec print around the edge of the pages.

Ciate Caviar Manicure

Unless you’re living in a cave you’ll probably know that a Ciate mini manicure is free with this months issue of Marie Claire, which is also on offer at £2.50 this month.

Nail Polish – Cookies and Cream
Caviar Pearls – Shooting Star

I’ve been wanting to try Ciate for a while but I couldn’t justify the price for a caviar set, so at £2.50 for a mini set it’s a bargain plus you get the magazine to read. However i’m not impressed with it, it took 3 coats before it was opaque and after the first coat you could be mistaken for having thought you hadn’t put any on, even a thick coat doesn’t show up well. I put this straight onto my nails without a base coat, and I also haven’t added a top coat because I already had plans for taking it off again.

I found it very difficult to get an even coverage of pearls, it is basically a case of pour them on to your nails and hope for the best. I was expecting there to possibly be some form of pourer or funnel to help make getting them out in small quantities easy. I do advise having a piece of paper to on a flat service to rest your hand on while your pour the pearls out so that you can then try to get them back into the bottle.

My camera has picked the colours up accurately and it is an ideal colour for everyday wear, so I can’t fault them there. The nail varnish is also quick drying so even though you have to use 3 coats, you aren’t waiting too long for it to dry.

I am glad that it was a free gift with a magazine because I don’t like it, and so I won’t be purchasing a Ciate manicure set.

About 8 weeks ago I was asked to review Blinkbox, for those of you that don’t know Blinkbox is a service which allows you to watch movies online without subscription. Now for me that’s pretty awesome, there might not be a film I want to watch every month and so paying at least £5 or £6 a month is just pointless. Movies are usually £3.49 to rent and you can buy movies from £6.99

I already had an account set up on the website because I had bought 8 Mile for my sister previously. Setting up an account is quick and easy to do, you enter your name, email address and create a password, you can then choose to add your address and payment details so that you can deposit £1 and claim your £5 free credit, you have then set up and account and can edit your profile. When I set up my account I claimed the £5 free credit to spend, which meant 8 Mile only cost me £1.99, which is a bargain! The great thing about buying the films on Blinkbox is that you can login anywhere and watch them, saves having to lug your laptop or dvds round to a friends house.

The first movie I rented was Pitch Perfect, I’d never got round to seeing it at the cinema. but it is right up my street. Myself and my sister decided we would have a movie afternoon and chose to watch it on my laptop. I did find that I needed to watch it on internet explorer rather than Chrome, but i’m often having to switch internet browser so i’m thinking I need to update Chrome. It was very easy to choose the film we wanted to watch, and once the movie had loaded we didn’t need to sit through any buffering, which is fantastic! I always find it very annoying when the movie is constantly having to stop and buffer.

The second film I watched was The Hobbit. We choose to watch The Hobbit because it’s a film that the family can enjoy together, and we connected it up to the TV to watch. I assume it was easy enough to get my laptop connected to the TV, my stepdad set it all up, and it didn’t take long before our film watching was underway!

Our set up for The Hobbit

The third film I watched was Les Miserables, myself and my friend decided we would have a girlie night in and watch Les Mis because it’s a film we both really enjoyed at the cinema. However we did have an issue with buffering, the first time it had happened, and we assumed it may be because we were upstairs rather than in the living room where the internet box is, and the room where I’d watched my last two films. I tweeted about this issue, and I got a quick response from the Blinkbox twitter account telling me to report it to their support team.

I reported the issue on their website, and just over an hour later I had an email response from them. They gave me some tips on how to hopefully avoid the issue in future, and they also credited my account with £3.49 so that I could rent another film.

I have yet to choose which film i’m going to rent next but I’m thinking I might actually look at renting a TV series.

I have found Blinkbox to be a really easy website to use, and the customer service team are fantastic, it doesn’t take long to get a response if you do have an issue. I will continue to use Blinkbox for both watching and purchasing films.

One thing to make note of is that rentals are valid for 30 days but once you start watching you only have 48 hours in which to watch your rental.

I’m going to get looking for my next rental, and I definitely recommend Blinkbox when you’re looking for your next movie or TV series to watch online.

During May half term I spent a week in Ibiza with the family, and after being home for over a week I think it’s about time I shared some of our photos with you. I didn’t take that many photos because my camera remained in my apartment most of the time.

We stayed in Port De Sant Miguel, which is a nice quiet resort at the north of Ibiza and is absolutely beautiful. I wasn’t looking forward to this holiday as much as others I’ve been on because it was going to very much so be a lie around the pool all day kind of holiday. I normally prefer to be off out doing things, visiting museums and such like. However, I surprised myself by really enjoying our holiday, and I now have a lovely tan. We did take a day trip out to Es Canar to the Hippy Market, and we went out to Eivissa for dinner one night, but other than that all our time was spent at our apartments.

You have seen two of my photographed outfits in my Magnificent 7th and Flash the Flesh posts, however there’s still one more to make an appearance so there’s a little preview of that in this post.

Anyway on with the photos!

Flash the Flesh #2

When a group of bloggers join together for a chat you know that the final result has to be super!! And so this happened once more when, a few days ago, we were talking about our preferences between mini and maxi and Becky thought that it would be great to create a challenge which goal was to show a little bit more skin and our body (but with style and no vulgarity) showing proudly our curves. And so it was born “Flash the Flesh”.

Dress – Primark
Floral Crown – Primark
Belt – One i’ve had many years

This month I decided t0o flash my legs, I am normally very happy to flash my legs off below my knee but I’ve never shown off above the knee. I took a couple of dresses and skirts away with me which flash above the knee, and i’m so glad I bought them because I now love them! As I said yesterday I now love showing off my legs rather than wearing a maxi.

Check out the other lovely flashers!

Magnificent 7th: Maxi

Magnificent 7th header

It’s that time of the month again, and this months theme was maxi.

We will be posting on the 7th of each month, and the aim of the challenge is to create an outfit to fit the theme, using clothes from our wardrobes, and yes that does mean digging deep into the depths and finding those long lost clothes! Hopefully one of us won’t end up in Narnia, but you never know with a bloggers wardrobe!

2013-05-27 18.36.59

As you can see I chose my one and only maxi dress for this challenge. I’ve fallen out of love with maxi’s this year and I much prefer getting my legs out. These photos were taken while in Ibiza over half term, this is one of the outfits I wore to go out for dinner and to enjoy the entertainment!

2013-05-27 18.37.55

I picked this maxi dress up a couple of year ago in Primark for about £10 and it has done well, but i’m hoping that at the clothes swap tomorrow there might be a chance to pick up another one!

OOTD: Irish

Today I bring you a quick OOTD post, on Saturday I placed a cheeky ASOS order and bought a top, bag, and belt. My parcel arrived on Monday and I instantly fell in love with the top and was so glad that I’d stumbled across it and ordered it, I wasn’t as keen on the bag or the belt, so i’m thinking I’ll send those back.

Top – ASOS
Jeggings – F&F Tesco
Floral Crown – Es Canar Hippy Market

When I saw this top and the shade of green it made me think of Ireland, probably because i’m planning on going to Dublin in October. Maybe, just maybe, this top will inspire me to get my saving hat on so that I can definitely go!

I have a very busy month planned, and this weekend I got very spend happy. I’m hoping that by returning my bag and belt to ASOS it will mean I don’t need to dip into the money that I put aside this month for my trip to Dublin.

PCOS weightloss update #3

As you know I was taking Orlistat however I have decided to stop taking it. Yes I was seeing results and wasn't really suffering from the main side effect, however I was suffering when I wasn't taking it.

In April I went to Scotland for the week and decided not to take the tablets because I knew we were going to be busy. I spent the week being rather ill, at the beginning of the week I thought it may be because I was eating foods that I had limited before and so I went back to limiting them without seeing results. I didn't feel comfortable taking part in some of the things we had planned and I was constantly looking for the nearest toilet, not a fun holiday.

When I came home I decided to trial not taking them and I didn't suffer any effects while at home. I went off to Ibiza last week with the confidence that I would be able to enjoy my holiday. Again I didn't enjoy it as much as I liked because after eating, I began to feel ill. We went out for tea one night and I actually didn't want to go because of my stomach, I did go but we had to go straight back to the apartments because of my stomach.

I've never previously had any issues and so I can only assume they stem from having taken Orlistat. I know that it must be a mental effect rather than physical because after 6 weeks I would assume they're out of my system, meaning I should have been fine in Ibiza.

I will be continuing with the changes I made while on the tablets in the hope of seeing more weightloss. This time I have no weight loss update, but I do have another kind of update. Last week my body surprised me by 'The badger was angry' aka I had a period, for the past 2 years I've had one yearly in October but this one was 6 months after the last. I think this shows that the weight loss has worked in regards to slightly improving my PCOS because I now hopefull have one more period a year.
