Update 4 – 100 day challenge

Hey folksies!

I’ve completed week 4, and I am a little proud of myself because as I general rule I have reduced the amount i’m spending and I’m hoping that by the end of the 100 days I will have gone a few weeks without having bought anything. However, this week has unfortunately seen my biggest expenditure on a truly gorgeous ASOS dress, I have no excuses for buying it I don’t need a new dress and I certainly didn’t have a special occasion to buy it for, I just simply loved it and had to buy it.

Over the last 4 weeks I have spent less than I would have done on clothes and beauty products, however I do still need to be much more restrictive with my spending and enforce my will power. I think I also need to spend time away from online shopping because that’s where i’ve had my biggest spend, in store I’ve been able to walk directly to where I need to be, where as online I think i’ll have a quick browse and before I know it i’ve placed an order. I sometime think that losing my debit card could be very beneficial because i’d be unable to spend before waiting for a new one, leaving it at home wouldn’t work as I have all the details memorised.

Week 1 - £12.98
Week 2 - £12.50
Week 3 - £10.24
Week 4 - £21
Total - £ 56.72

Competition - new blog name

Hello folks,

For a while I've been thinking that I'm not keen on my blog name and that I'd like a new one, however I'm struggling to come up with one. The best name I've come up with is Tinkerbell the Lost Girl - A fairy finding her feet, which includes a tag line. I already have an idea for a new Twitter name because changing the blog name meabs changing my Twitter because they are currently related.

I thought I'd make my quest for a new name into a competition and there will be a wee prize for the creator of the chosen name. Ideally I'd like a name that includes Tinkerbell, tag lines aren't essential and neither are Twitter names but if you can think of one then do please add it.

There are only 2 rules:
1, You must comment with a new blog name
2, It's only open to people in the UK and Ireland

I think I'll keep this open for 2 weeks, and we'll see what names come in.

Update 3 - 100 day challenge

Hey folks,

Week 3 is now over and besides buying birthday presents I only had to replace essentials.

I had to replace my shampoo which cost £7.24 in boots with a 25% off voucher. I know a lot of people are trying to use cheaper alternatives when it comes to replacing essentials but i've found something which has worked for over a month and so i'm sticking too it while it lasts. I also had to replace a pair of leggings, I couldn't get away with the holes in them for much longer, I picked a pair up in Primark for £3.

Week 1 - £12.98
Week 2 - £12.50
Week 3 - £10.24
Total - £ 35.72

Update 2 – 100 day challenge

Hello Folks,

I know the end of week 3 is almost at an end but I will update for week 2 before week 3 ends. I went to the clothes swap in Leeds which I posted about here, I must admit that the trip into Chloe’s shop made me want to spend loads, but fortunately my debit card had been left behind at home. One great thing about the clothes swap was that I got to rejuvenate my wardrobe without spending a penny on new clothing.

I did buy something though, which was a Helen Rochfort hand drawn Poppy satchel, it was a seconds on Ebay for £12.50 and I couldn’t resist. I did spend less than last week and so if I can cut down each week until i’m not spending then i’ll be happy with that.

It is difficult to do because I don’t tend to think when i’m spending, and so i’m trying to think more before I spend, and about what i’m spending on. I am trying to pay more attention to what i’m spending on, but I have 2 birthdays coming up and so i’ll be unable to spend on myself anyway.

I thought I’d keep a tally of what I spend each week.

Week 1 – £12.98
Week 2 - £12.50

Total - £25.48

2013 goals

Hello folks,

I didn't make any New Years resolutions but there are a few things I'd like to do this year. I didn't want to put pressure on myself to do things which might not aways be achievable but I wanted to choose things to make this year a bit better than last year.

I want to say yes more.
I want to spend more time with friends.
I want to enjoy myself,

I've chosen three things which are important but which ultimately link together. I don't want this to be the year where I wish I'd done things or attended events.

I've already made a start, I've spent the past 2 saturdays with rad fatties, and I'm on with making plans for Plus North, Plus London 3, and Lisa's birthday.

Rad Fat Swap!

Hello Folks,

Yesterday I made my way to Leeds for the plus size clothes swap, though I had a slight disaster when I made it to my look train stop to find that I didn’t have my debit card, I had a wee bit of cash though so I knew I could get to the swap.

I met Steph at Leeds train station and we made our way to the swap together, it was my first time going, last time I was unable to go because I’d lost my debit card (I must be jinxed or something!). It’s only a short walk from the train station to Wharf Chambers where the swap was held, I had a rough idea of where it was because I knew it was by the corn exchange which I remember from when I was about 14/15 and me and my friends would spend most Saturday’s shopping in Leeds. When we arrived there were plenty of ladies there and tables piled high with clothes, we quickly unpacked the clothes we brought with us and had a good rummage.

I found plenty of lovely things! I told myself I wasn’t going to come home with as many clothes as I took because I don’t have the space, but the wee suitcase I took with me was full again.

After the swap we popped in to see Chloe at Life’s Big Canvas, she’d very kindly given us a discount in her shop, unfortunately I was unable to buy anything but I do want to marry her shop, it’s absolutely amazing!

We went out to Zizzi’s for tea, Chloe had very kindly lent me some money so that I didn’t have to miss out on food, I think there was about 20 of us who went for food. I had three courses which is very typical for me, but the food was so filling and I was unable to finish my Tiramisu Sad smile

It was lovely to spend the day with so many fabulous fat ladies, and I’ve managed to refresh my wardrobe without spending a penny on new clothes! So a big thank you to Rebecca and Laura for organising it, i’m looking forward to the next one!

This is my favourite find at the swap, and it was made by Rebecca’s mum!

Today I’m wearing this leopard print cardi that I snapped up yesterday.

I didn’t get many photos, however you can find many of the swap and our meal out here, http://rebeccasvivaciouscurvaceousblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/today-in-leedsplus-size-swap-4-yey.html

Also don’t forget about my birthday giveaway there’s still 11 days left to enter!

Update 1 - 100 day challenge

Hello folks,

I have now completed week 1, and it was a little harder than expected because I went to Doncaster. I had previously set aside some money for spending in Doncaster,  and so I allowed myself to still spend it because it wasn't coming from a wage in the New Year.

I did spend my money wisely and bought clothing for work, which is something I was allowing myself to purchase throughout the challenge.  Unfortunately I did buy a few pieces of make up which I weren't allowed to buy and I spent £12.98

This first week of the challenge was as difficult as I expected, but I will need to make a point of avoiding the shops so that I'm not tempted to spend. I also need to learn to avoid spending online, and so I'll be taking my tablet to work so that I can read.

Bye bye Minnie...

On Monday I said good bye to my first car Minnue, the faithful little red Micra. She was with me for 2 and a half years but it was time for me to upgrade.

We had a lot of fun times together and I'll never forget her.

Now it's time to say hello to Oswin.

I ended up buying a newer Micra and she is just beautiful, I can't wait for us to have our first adventure together.

100 day spending challenge.

Hello folks,

I've decided to start the year off with a spending challenge. I'm going to Loch Ness at Easter and it would be nice to have plenty of spending money.

There are a few things I'm allowing myself to rebuy throughout the challenge;

1, Shampoo
2, Hair dye
3, Beauty boxes
4, Any products which I run out of entirely

There are also a few new items I'm allowed to buy;

1, A pair of work pants
2, A work shirt
3, A pair of work shoes.

I've recently made a very big purchase which makes this challenge necessary so that I bring myself back into balance and start saving again.

Happy New Year!

Hello folks,

I've decided I'm not going to make any resolutions this year because I never stick to them.

Those of you on Tumblr may have seen the post about filling a jar with all of the good memories from the year, and so I'm going to do a version of that by writing them all down in a notebook. I was given a lovely notebook in my stocking which says things I love on the front which makes it the perfect notebook for this. When 2013 ends I'll be able to look through the notebook and see all of the good things that happened this year.

There are a few things I would like to do this year, like go on holiday, and see more comedians but I'll have to see how the year pans out.
